When an unexpected disaster halts air travel around the world, the people of Gander, Newfoundland come together to welcome those who have been stranded in their town. This all-new production of the award-winning musical tells a story of resilience, kindness, and unexpected friendships in a time of crisis.
Born and raised in Calgary (Mohkínstsis), and now proudly calling Edmonton (amiskwacîwâskahikan) home, Steven (he/him) is a Jessie and OVATION! Award-winning music director, actor and musician, with credits that span over 110 productions across Canada. Recent credits include Legally Blonde and Newsies The Musical (Ross Sheppard); The Wizard of Oz, ‘Friedrich Bhaer’ in Little Women, Jersey Boys, ‘Mr. Boddy’ in Clue and ‘Albert Barker’ in A Christmas Carol (Citadel); Frozen (Citadel/Grand); ‘Billy Bishop’ in Billy Bishop Goes to War (Edmonton Rep); I’ll Be Here: a musical cabaret (Edmonton Fringe/Broken Toys); Ellie’s Coffeehouse: A Musical SleepTale featuring Lea Salonga (BetterSleep); ‘Theo van Gogh’ in After Mourning—Before Van Gogh and ‘Conrad Duplass’ in The Wrong People Have Money (Shadow); A Little Night Music (NUOVA); The Little Mermaid (Persephone); Sunday in the Park with George, [title of show] and Into the Woods (MacEwan) performed to a pandemic-era audience of teddy bears-only; ‘Johnny Casino’ in Grease (Western Canada Theatre); Peter Pan Goes Wrong (Citadel/Arts Club); The Dreamer’s Cantata (Edmonton Fringe/Plain Jane); Ring of Fire (Aquarius and Citadel); ‘Jerry Lee Lewis’ in Million Dollar Quartet (Theatre Calgary); Tune to A (Expanse/Azimuth); and Welcome Home (Teatro). Other credits include Once (Citadel); ‘Jerry Lee Lewis’ in Million Dollar Quartet and Red Rock Diner (Arts Club); ‘Cogsworth’ in Beauty and the Beast and ‘Thomas Andrews’ in Titanic (TUTS); James and the Giant Peach, Busytown, The Wizard of Oz and Seussical (Carousel); ‘Motel’ in Fiddler on the Roof (Western Canada Theatre and Chemainus Theatre Festival); The Spitfire Grill (Pacific/Midnight Theatre Collective); and Edges (Streamlight). He has been an instructor at FTS, Artstrek, Studio 58, Capilano University and MacEwan University (his alma mater).
